Amber Elizabeth Gray, MPH, MA, LPCC, ADTR, NCC, is the Director of Restorative Resources Training & Consulting International, LLC, which provides training, supervision, and consultation for individuals, non-profit organizations, health care facilities, educational programs and NGO’s who work with adult and child survivors of trauma. Areas of concentration include working with survivors of torture, war, genocide, mass trauma, combat and conflict; working with refugees; working with combat veterans; innovative approaches for clinical practice; individual and organizational stress management; community intervention; child trauma; understanding PTSD; and the application of somatic and creative arts therapies to work with adult and child survivors of trauma. Her experience in the field of trauma treatment, training and education, and international program development include six years as the lead clinician (adults and children) at a torture treatment program (Rocky Mountain Survivors Center, “RMSC,” in Denver, CO), serving refugees, asylum seekers and a widely cross-cultural population; three and ½ years as the Clinical Director of RMSC, with the primary responsibility of developing and overseeing the children’s treatment program; two years as the National Consortium of Torture Treatment Program’s (“NCTTP”) Clinical Committee Chairperson, and one year as the NCTTP Training Committee chairperson. Amber has extensive experience training medical, mental health and human rights professionals, and paraprofessionals, nationally and internationally, who work with adult and child survivors of interpersonal trauma, and extensive experience in program design and development for trauma recovery programs serving cross-cultural populations (most recently as Director of The Program for Victims of Organized Violence in Port au Prince, Haiti and Co-Director of New Mexico’s Alliance for Child Traumatic Stress). She has utilized her expertise in the development of community based programs and trauma treatment programs, and continues to consult on such programs. She has worked in Indonesia, Haiti, Kosovo, Mexico, Sudan, Norway, Australia, Rwanda and the United States to provide training and/or develop programs that respond to mass disaster and social trauma, and as an educator and trainer. Amber’s expertise is in the development of culturally congruent programs that reinforce individual and communal resilience for communities that have experienced mass social trauma such as war or natural disaster. Amber met Dr. Porges in 2000, and has applied his theories to her work she does ever since. She combines somatic psychology, dance movement therapy, ritual, creative arts, drumming, and Continuum Movement in her work. Currently, she is Director of Restorative Resources Consulting and Training (www.restorativerersources.net) and is Directing the Raven Drum Foundations Trauma & Resiliency Program (www.ravendrum.org). She is also the Board Chair for TASSC International.
