Dr Ben Hui is an Associate Lecturer and mathematical modeler at the Kirby Institute (formerly the National Centre in HIV Epidemiology and Clinical Research). His work involves the development of mathematical models for assessing the impact of interventions for the control and prevention of sexually transmitted infections. A recent focus of his work has been on STI prevention in remote indigenous communities in Australia with limited access to health services. He is also developing models to address the impact of potential changes in standard diagnostic techniques for gonorrhoea, and the cost-effectiveness of organised gp-based screening for Chlamydia in Australia. Dr Hui is funded by an NHMRC Project Grant (566848) entitled “Using mathematical models to assess the impact of interventions to reduce sexually transmitted infections in Australia
