MD PhD in Psychiatry, Dr Abdo is an Associate Professor of the Department of Psychiatry, Medicine School, University of Sao Paulo (FMUSP). She has founded and coordinates the Program of Studies in Sexuality (ProSex) of the FMUSP, a multitask group of teaching, research, health assistance and community services in the area of sexuality. She is a member of the International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM), of the International Consultation on Sexual Dysfunctions, of the Latin American Society for Sexual Medicine (SLAMS), of the International Academy of Medical Sexology (AISM) and also an honorary member of the Brazilian Society of Urology (SBU). Dr Abdo has published eight books, approximately seventy chapters, two hundred papers in national and international medical journals and has presented lectures in over 600 national and international medical meetings. Her research interests are: Sexual Medicine; Medical Psychology; Psychotherapy; Psychopathology of Communication.
