Carolyn Quadrio is Associate Professor in Psychiatry at the University of New South Wales and practises in Psychotherapy and Forensic and Child and Family Psychiatry. She was formerly Chairperson of the RANZCP Binational Committee for Advanced Training in Psychotherapy and Director of Mental Health Services with Corrections Health Service in New South Wales. She is well known as a teacher of marital and family and individual psychotherapy and introduced a masters programme in psychotherapy at UNSW in 1989. Her major research has been on: sexual abuse of patients in therapy; the long-term sequelae of childhood sexual abuse; and women in psychiatry - as patients and as practitioners. Her current interests are in the role of childhood trauma in relationship to personality development and adult psychiatric dysfunction and domestic violence and its impact on children.
