Dr Damien Riggs

Dr Riggs is an Australian Research Council Future Fellow (2013-2019) and a senior lecturer in social work at Flinders University. He teaches and researches in the areas of family studies, mental health, and gender/sexuality studies, and is the author of over 100 publications in these areas, including (with Victoria Clarke, Sonja Ellis and Elizabeth Peel) Lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and queer psychology (Cambridge University Press, 2010), which won the British Psychological Society book prize for 2013. Damien also works in private practice as a psychotherapist, where he specializes in working with gender variant young people.
