David Leary is the director of the Come In Youth Resource Centre, a counselling service located at Paddington, Sydney. He is also a counsellor at the agency. He has worked at the Centre in a variety of roles since 1978. David’s primary degree was in theology and philosophy. He holds a masters degree in counselling and a doctorate (PhD) that focussed on vulnerability, connectivity and resilience in adolescent males. David provides clinical consultation and group supervision to the counsellors at a number of government and non-government agencies. He has previously lectured at Macquarie University and currently lectures at the Institute of Counselling. In 2008, he will be lecturing in the Master of Counselling program at Australian Catholic University in Sydney. He has presented papers dealing with homelessness, ethical issues, HIV and AIDS, and psychotherapeutic issues. He has also published a number of academic works in the area of youth suicide, HIV, confidentiality and ethics, male sex work, and on issues relating to adolescent counselling.
