Dominica is a Clinical Psychologist who completed her undergraduate and postgraduate studies at La Trobe University in Melbourne. Dominica’s masters research, which explored the relationship between forgiveness, coping and wellbeing in refugee and migrant women, as well as a voluntary position at the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, shaped her passion for working with refugee torture and trauma survivors. Dominica has worked previously for the Australian Red Cross providing psychological support to asylum seekers and at Melbourne Youth Justice Centre with at risk young people. Dominica has worked as a counsellor/project officer at STARTTS for two years, where a majority of her clients are asylum seekers from diverse cultural backgrounds and age groups. Dominica is passionate about working with asylum seekers and is particularly concerned about reducing the suffering of individuals whilst their protection claims are processed. She is a qualified yoga instructor and is interested in the integration of ancient yoga philosophy/techniques and contemporary psychological interventions.
