Dr Fran Gale

Dr. Fran Gale is Research Fellow in the Social Justice Social Change Research Centre, at the University of Western Sydney. She is a political scientist and social worker who teaches mainly in the areas of ideologies, social policy, as well as critical theory and practice, in the School of Applied Social and Human Sciences. One focus of her work is with marginalized young people from diverse and often traumatized populations. Most recently this has included youth and community development work in East Timor and work with young asylum seekers. Her work with Natalie Bolzan, includes research exploring women's spirituality and social justice, and also, research around young people's spirituality with reference to their civic involvement and social inclusion. Fran researches and writes in the areas of civic connectedness and marginalized groups, the theory / practice nexus particularly socio-political theories and practices, human rights, and, spirituality and social justice.
