Professor Ione Lewis is Dean of Community Training Australia Higher Education. She is currently Chair of PACFA's research committee and Past President. Ione has been involved in undergraduate and postgraduate counselling, psychotherapy and supervision education, and supervision of higher degree research students for 20 years, as well as practicing as a psychotherapist and supervisor for over 26 years. She is a member of PACFA and AASW. Much of her clinical work and research has been in the area of domestic violence and its long term impacts. She has undertaken research in Papua New Guinea since 1995, on violence against women and links with HIV transmission, men’s experience and use of violence and institutional readiness to institute services responding to gender based violence. She has undertaken research with the Benevolent Society of NSW on domestic violence survivors’ views of counselling services and clients’ meaningful involvement in research.
