Dr Leanne Humphreys is a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Psychology in the School of Psychology, Charles Sturt University. The majority of her career has been in the field of adult mental health where she has specialised in the treatment of adults suffering from the spectrum of trauma-related disorders. Most of Leanne’s clients have suffered multiple traumatic experiences, and she is mindful of the importance of establishing and maintaining a safe and respectful therapeutic relationship whilst at all times working towards the delivery of evidence based treatments designed to support the client in the process of recovery. In particular, Leanne has focused on the use of marginal and in-vivo exposure therapies and has found ways to adapt these therapies for use with clients reporting multiple traumatic experiences. She has presented training programs and workshops across Australia on behalf of the Australian Centre for Posttraumatic Mental Health, University of Melbourne, the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Vietnam Veterans Counselling Service. More recently her research interests have focused on the development of competence in postgraduate students of professional psychology. She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society, and the APS College of Clinical Psychologists.
