Mohamed is currently the Director of SOMSTARTTS Somalia. A dedicated, professional social service advocate and supporter with strong empathy for society’s disadvantaged, Mohamed has over ten years experience in social and community development programs in Australia and United States and a special interest in Somalia’s development. Mohamed designed, developed and supported the implementation of more than 20 training and learning programs for refugee young people, including leadership training for refugee young people; Anger Management; Teamwork; Identity; Harmony; Relationships; and Emotions and Feelings; and how to get a job in Australia. He has provided training to service providers who work with young people on topics such as “State terrorism and organised violence target the very essence of community relationships”; Working with Refugee Young People; How to run a successful soccer tournament; and training volunteers and students to help at youth camps. This has included face-to-face and self-paced training solutions in various NGO’s, schools, collages and youth service providers. Mohamed was born in Somalia, left the country in 1991 and migrated to USA and now lives in Australia since 2002 with his Somali-Australian wife and children.
