Current academic appointment at the University of Bath, United Kingdom. Works on a fractional basis at the University of South Australia. Patrick O'Leary's main areas of expertise are in violence and abuse, this takes in fields of practice in child protection, domestic violence, sexual assault, law enforcement, international aid, counselling and community development. A/professor O'Leary is also active in teaching practice based approaches in anti racism, this has included a focus on white professionals working in Indigenous contexts. The teaching approach is a collaborative method with a focus on accountability in black/white partnerships as a model for student learning. Since 2001 A/Professor Patrick O'Leary have carried out many international research consultancies on child protection and gendered violence for International Aid Organisations.
