Pepper Schwartz has a Ph.D. from Yale University and is Professor of Sociology at the University of Washington, Past President of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality, and the Pacific Sociology Association. She is the winner of the American Sociological Association‘s award for Public Understanding of Sociology and the John Gagnon award for excellence in sexuality studies. She has been the Clarence and Elsa Shrag Professor, a member of the International Academy of Sex Research,and the winner of awards from Mortar Board, Mother‘s Voices, and the International Women‘s Forum. She is the author of over 50 academic articles and 18 books, the most recent of which, 'The Normal Bar', was on the March 8th, 2013 New York Times Best Seller list.
