Inner Peace from Meditative Psychotherapy for Therapeutic Action

Inner Peace from Meditative Psychotherapy for Therapeutic Action

This keynote address will delineate the powerful effects of various aspects of mindfulness, how they shape and provide the mind with a milieu that promotes growth. In particular the meditative practices on the cultivation of the four positive emotions, the Brahma Viharas, will be highlighted. Dr Tan will elaborate on the therapeutic actions of these meditations in his practice of Meditative Psychotherapy.
This Buddhist-influenced psychotherapy combines the therapeutic techniques of analytical psychotherapy with mindfulness based practices. This integrates the best from both healing traditions for our patients. Clinical vignettes will be used to illustrate when inner peace is achieved in Meditative Psychotherapy outer therapeutic change follows.
