A case presentation of one of Franka male clients at STARTTS who had experienced extensive trauma during the war in the former Yugoslavia, which included multiple losses that had a severe impact on both his physical and psychological health.
The client was forced to flee his home town in a horrific situation in which all family members were separated during the prolonged and unsafe journey. After six years in exile he arrived in Australia where he constantly dealt with his past trauma while struggling with the tasks of adaptation in a new environment.
Through this presentation Franka emphasises the treatment of the client’s PTSD symptoms and underline the effects of STARTTS’ holistic approach in working with aged refugees.
