A discussion on the Journey of interaction with clients of STARTTS and that of other refugees via the teaching of situational English

Sister Maureen O’Connor is interviewed by Nooria Mehraby on her experiences of working as a volunteer English teacher. In this interview Sister Maureen draws on her Christian heritage of welcoming the stranger to walk with others in compassion and hospitality as they seek to begin a new life in a new land.

This will lead to a reflection on the mutual achievement that takes place in the life of the care giver and client. At all times it is important that the client should experience adult exploration while trying to integrate into the new culture being made aware that they already posses a rich culture that can contribute to the tapestry of their new country and culture.
