Healing or Curing – from the client and therapist’s perspective

Regardless of the expertise we may have acquired, the greatest gift we bring to our clients is our wholeness. Deeply listening to another person is perhaps the oldest and most powerful tool of healing. Providing a safe environment in which what has been un-utterable up until now can be given voice, enlightens both therapist and client alike. What are the ingredients for this healing space and how does it differ from curing, fixing or helping?

When we bring our wholeness to the encounter we serve the wholeness in one another. Curing may not involve healing and healing may not involve curing. Curing focuses on the elimination of the problem whilst healing enlivens, empowers and connects people to their essential self.
