The aim of this presentation is to explore processes of Self within sufferers of Post Traumatic Stress disorder. The focus is not on PTSD in itself. The Department of Veterans Affairs PTSD programmes are now extremely substantial and detailed, emphasising Evidence Based therapy such as Present Centered Therapy (PCT). After 25% of sufferers reject therapy, 30-50% show benefit. Of those who do benefit, a significant proportion still meet criteria for PTSD. The addition of models of Self may contribute to the understanding and treatment of PTSD. Internalisation of military mindsets that may both help and hinder Self processes will be explored, along with clinical examples.
