A manner of existential psychotherapy dares the self to leave itself behind and enter therapy in an attitude of poverty, a state of disturbance which can be so different to a place of charged-up consciousness of self.  The paper will argue the merits of a number of psychotherapeutic strategies that work against an idea/ideal of being, as if there was a single voice of being, and which, in contrast, encourage the multifaceted experience of being.
