STRATTS’ clients have experienced multiple traumas; being severely maltreated and persecuted. They face difficulties on the individual, family, community and society levels, suffering from chronic general health conditions and dealing with severe psychological symptoms.
Mental status exam emphasises on clients’ cognitive, emotional and behavioural responses, while paying attention to the clients’ appearance and thinking processes, which indicate persons’ intellectual functioning and cognitive capacities. Observing clients’ mood and affect regulation importantly helps to determine clients’ feelings and emotional responses that are crucial in order to understand the nature of psychological conditions.
