35 years on – the evolution of the integrated, biopsychosocial approach

The evolution of the training programme over more than 35 years will be discussed in the context of other training programmes that have been, and are currently, offered in the UK. Alongside other training providers of this type of clinical and academic training, the Porterbrook Clinic programme grew out of what was initially a pilot interest speciality of a few clinicians. It has evolved today into a biopsychosocial model of training and clinical interventions. It integrates MIST, systemic and medical approaches to the assessment and treatment of individuals and couples with sexual and relationship difficulties.
