In Tunisia, drugs abuse is a major public health problem. It poses a significant threat to the safety and health of young people. Data from different Tunisian surveys indicate that nearly 10% of young people use drugs. To cope with this problem, prevention is considered a priority. Among the preventive measures recommended the integration of learning life skills in schools. This program teaches young people to resist social influences that encourage them to consume drugs; develops self-management skills and social skills. In Tunisia, a project started in 2013 in middle schools. It aims to prevent the drug abuse among youth through the acquisition of life skills.
Description of the action: 2012 – Development life skills training manual. 2013 – Facilitator Training; three training sessions (seven days) for 60 persons (teachers, doctors, nurses). October 2013 – Development of tools for monitoring and evaluation, start animation sessions for 1000 students in middle school, start monitoring the first results of this experience, results will be in ready in June 2014. The discussion will be about the modalities to continue this process and its generalization.
