Menopausal syndrome is a symptom common in middle-aged women. The International Society for Psychotherapy, Counselling and Psychiatry Theories, Researches and Clinical Practices (ISPCP), recommended the provision of mind-body therapy for menopausal women with the promotion of good mental health. Previous studies have shown that Taichi is widely accepted to be a beneficial mind-body practice for menopausal women in improving mental health, but there is little known about Ruesidadton (Thai Yoga), that has been recommended by the Public Health Ministry of Thailand, as a potentially acceptable form of mind-body practice.
Therefore, the purpose of this study is to determine the impact Ruesidadton has on the effect of the mood status changes compared with the standard mind-body practice. A randomised block allocation was used. Each experimental group received an 8-week Ruesidadton and Chikung program.
There were statistically significant differences of the mood status level measured by modified visual analogue scale within the groups in both programs. All data were analysed using the repeated measure anova. The findings of this study demonstrated that Ruesidadton and Taichi program was associated with improvements in mood status level. Results indicate that Ruesidadton may be considered to be beneficial for improving the promotion of good mental health for menopausal women.
