Art psychotherapy reflects multifaceted contents of one’s psychological life, described by Schaverien (1992) as “the life in the picture” and “the life of the picture”. From an analytical stance, this mystical revealing of imagery provides symbolic expressions of mankind, which cannot lend itself to empirical methods within a natural science model. As Nobel Prize winner Edelman (1992) had posited, “works of art are not susceptible to the methods of scientific analysis”. A case study will be presented.
