The Emotional Health Clinic and Research Unit (EHCRU) is an outpatient-based clinical psychology service based on the grounds of Cumberland Hospital, and is tasked with providing best-evidence psychological interventions for individuals diagnosed with personality disorder, severe emotional dysregulation and/or bipolar affective disorders. This presentation reports on the early-stage proposed clinical and research links between EHCRU and the Westmead Psychotherapy Program. The need for improving service provision and person-centred care in line with the Strategic Plan for Mental Health in NSW 2014 – 2024 will also be discussed, with an emphasis on how mutual collaboration between our programs may address some of our service provision problems associated with long waitlists, comprehensive assessment processes and limited resources.
