“A Clinical Conversation on ‘Something that gets in the way’: Black Holes, Tempests and Double-Binds”

“A Clinical Conversation on ‘Something that gets in the way’: Black Holes, Tempests and Double-Binds”

Having broached in a prior Think Tank sessions the notion of disorganization in infant attachment and the way acute, chronic and complex trauma can disorganize us across the life span, we will take the time for a brief revision and then a discussion of clinical material, used with permission and de-identified and disguised. We will put our heads together to creatively think and feel these vignettes, which is an important first step in the parallel process of containment and transformation and an illustration of the secure base template: “Perhaps we can work it out together / Perhaps we can endure it together”. Things can’t always work between us as we might like, but we can stop and put a story around this as best we can and patience and forgiveness for our (mutual) limitations can be helpful and humane.
